Interactieve video-installatie van steigermateriaal, aangestuurd door een centraal draaiwiel.
Autonomie, tijdelijkheid en absurditeit worden onderzocht door middel van het gezamenlijk
bouwen aan doelloze constructies in verschillende omgevingen.

In acht verschillende beelden zien we bouwers constructies maken. De regels voor deze bouwwerken zijn minimaal, als ze überhaupt al bestaan:
binnen vijftien minuten moet er íets gemaakt worden met steigerbuizen en klemmen.
De registraties van deze handelingen worden vertoond op acht verschillende beelden, in een installatievorm
die volgens dezelfde regels is opgebouwd. In de installatie kan de bezoeker met een interactief draaiwiel de verteltijd van de beelden
vooruit en achteruit spoelen, om nadruk te leggen op de tijd die nodig is geweest voor het bouwen.

Verval werd geëxposeerd tijdens Exposure 2026 als afstudeerwerk van Image & Media Technology op HKU Oudenoord.

Verval is an interactive video installation constructed from scaffolding materials and controlled by a central rotating wheel.
The work explores autonomy, temporality, and absurdity through the collective construction of purposeless structures in a variety of environments.

Across eight video channels, builders assemble structures using scaffolding tubes and clamps. The rules are minimal,
if they exist at all: within fifteen minutes, something must be built. These recordings are presented on eight screens within
an installation that is itself constructed according to the same simple principles.

Using an interactive rotating wheel, visitors can scroll the videos forwards and backwards, shifting the focus to the time invested in the act of building.
In doing so, the process itself becomes more significant than the final outcome.

Verval was exhibited at Exposure 2026 as the graduation project for the Image & Media Technology study at HKU Oudenoord.
